In July 2020, the Wanda Alston Foundation opened the doors of our second facility. Located in Ward 1, Alston’s Place is equipped with 10 beds, a computer room, a lower-level common area, and ADA-compliant amenities. We are proud to have been selected as one of the few homeless shelters in Washington, DC to pilot a 6-year program serving LGBTQ+ youth ages 16 to 24 with more intensive support services.
Services provided at Alston’s Place include:
- Long-term transitional living (up to 6 years)
- On site 24/7 staff
- Case management
- Educational guidance and support
- Job training and guidance
